Some Old Car Features That Are Returning

Not everything new is better. Sometimes the old things prove to be much better.

Some older cars have features no longer available in some modern cars, such as spare tires, fluid dip sticks and easy to service lights. Some cars have no gauges to monitor temperature, battery charging and oil pressure. Those are just a few things.

Whatever happened to single cab long bed trucks such as the 48 Nash and the Canadian Mercury Trucks shown here? Why are we stuck with buying stumpy bed crew cab trucks? And whatever happened to long bed crew cab trucks? Some people have 5th wheel toy haulers and camping trailers, not to mention camper bodies that long bed trucks are better suited for hauling.

And many of these trucks and cars came with manual transmissions such as the Studebaker, Packard, Metropolitan, Hudson, Nash, Rambler and Dodge cars shown here. By the way, the two Metropolitans shown are Hudson badged Metropolitans. Metropolitan cars from late 1954-57 were badged either Hudson or Nash, depending on the dealer that sold the car new. In 1958, Metropolitan was a brand of its own, sold with Rambler at Rambler dealers from 1958 onwards. Rambler from late 1954-57 were also badged as Hudson or Nash, depending on the dealer.
